An Emergency Rescue Device (ERD) is an electronic and electrical apparatus that provides emergency power to the elevators with 3 phase supply, when input power source or mains power fails. It differs from an Auxiliary or emergency power system or stand-by generator in that it provides nearinstantaneous protection from input power interruptions, by supplying energy in batteries through a dedicated power bank.
