The Department
Shiv Nadar University's mammothian 286-acre campus is blessed with diverse flora and fauna. This 'green campus' promises ample area for discussions and intellectual debates. One can find students basking in the sun in between their classes and other activities. The natural beauty of the campus inspires students for all academic, sports and co-curricular pursuits. The bio-diversity park and SNU Lake are a hotspot not just for students and faculty but also for the countless birds which migrate to this part of the country.
Bio Diversity Park
The fruit conservatory in SNU Botanic Garden provides an opportunity to see most of the fruit plants at one place, the largest collection of plants in NCR. The Fruit Plants Garden, has a total of 65 variety of fruit plants such as Aonla, Amra, Almond, Apple, Apricot, Avocado, Bel, Ber, Banana, Barhal, Chinese Orange, Custard apple, Dragon Fruit, Fig, Grapes, Guava, Jack fruit, Jamun, Rose apple, Jangal Jalebi, Kair Karonda, Khirnee, Lasora, Lemon, Litchi, Kagzi neebu/Lime, Sweet lemon, Mandarin (Kinnow), Orange, Mango (Amrapali and Dasheri), Moringa (Sainjan), Papaya, Passion fruit (purple and red), Pear, Persimmon (Amarphal/Dyospyros kaki), Phalsa, Plum, Pomegranate, Pomelo (Chakotara), Star fruit (Kamrakh), Sapota, Walnut, West Indian Cherry, Wood apple (Kaith), etc. Many of the fruit plants have already started to flower and bear fruits. The University takes pride in its beautiful green campus. The SNU campus is a beautiful space to study, exercise, work and live. Check out the flora and fauna on campus that make it so picturesque.
Solar Initiative
Total 430 Kwp roof top Solar has been commissioned at three different Location in different time span since Sept 2017.
-> ISC Rooftop:  Capacity 200 Kwp.
-> B School Rooftop : Capacity 200 Kwp.
-> Utility 2 Rooftop : Capacity 30 Kwp. 
-> The current unit generation per month has stabilized at 40,000 units (average) valued at ₹ 4.35 Lakhs per month or ₹ 0.52 Crores p a.
Sewage Treatment Plant
At SNU, Latest technology Sewage treatment Plants are installed. The sewage water is treated through MBR technology. ( Membrane Bio Reactor). The treated water is also passed through UV reactor before storing it in treated water tank. The following capacity of STP plant is installed at SNU.
Energy Conservation
Currently we are paying approx. Rs 16 Cr. Per annum as electricity. For reduction the cost, we were taking following initiative and the drive is still its ongoing.
-> 33kV sub station installed in Sept 2017. As the power uptime is above 99%, this initiative saves approx. Rs 2.5 Cr per annum from procurement of HSD.
-> Installed Motion sensor in all the toilets in Acad and Hostel.
-> Conversation of conventional CFL/T5 light fixture to LED fixture. Hostel area are almost completed.
-> Battery operated Urinal sensor is converted into electrical operated sensor. Which saves the consumption of Battery.
-> n hostel, solar water heater are installed in selective hostels.
-> Timer/ day light photo sensor is used in external lighting operation.
-> Trial run of BLDC ( Brass Less Direct Current) Ceiling fan is on going. The wattage of this fan is 30W W.R.T 70Watt of conventional fan.
