General Information About LAHAUL SPITI VALLEY TOUR
Lahaul and Spiti is one of the state lies on the international border with Tibet. Lahaul and Spiti are the perfect locations for adventure seekers and nature lovers. Many Bollywood have been filmed in this valley due to its aesthetic look and Buddhist culture. Hindi movie "PAAP" is one of those films. It is located at an altitude of 3340 m in the north eastern corner; these are the two remote villages of Himachal Pradesh. Before these two districts were combined, the Lahaul capital was Kardang and Dhankar was the capital of Spiti. But now, these are spread over an area of 13835 sq. km and as per 2001 census, the total populations of these districts were recorded around 33,224.
When you pass Rohtang pass and get an altitude of 4000 mtr and after crossing the pass you realize the clear impression of Buddhist culture. You see the road side chortens. By visiting this valley and snowcapped hills create a splendid view of the valley. Lahaul and Spiti are two isolated Himalayan valleys of Himachal Pradesh that lie on the Indo-Tibet border. A beautiful land of captivating Buddhist art and culture- Lahaul is distinguished by inflicting mountains and glaciers while the vegetation, climate and the landscape of Spiti are similar to that of Tibet. That's why the village of Spiti is also popular as 'Little Tibet'.

Day 01 - Jaipur to Manali
Evening 3:00 PM leave for Manali via Rohtak, Panipat, Karnal, Chandigarh, Mandi, Manali. Check in at hotel. Reaching at Manali 8:00 AM. Have breakfast and rest for 4 hrs. After lunch in Afternoon local sight-seeing of Manali (Hadimba Temple, Van Vihar, Vashisht Sulphur spring). Overnight stay in Manali.
Day 02 - Manali to Keylong
Headquarters of Lahaul & Spiti district : After breakfast at hotel, we leave for our next destination Keylong. On the way we have a halt to enjoy the scenic beauty of Rohtang pass (3980 m). Enroute you will be crossing Rahala water Fall, Marhi and some Lahaul villages like Khoksar, Sissu and Gondla. We move along the Chenab River. On arrival check in at hotel/ Upper Guest House. Afternoon visit to Khardong monastery & village. Evening free to explore Keylong. Overnight at hotel.
Day 03 - Keylong
Raw natural beauty: Today you go for an excursion visiting Trilokinath and Mrikula Devi temple at Udaipur in Pattan valley. There are many small monasteries and temples almost in each village available around Keylong. Overnight at hotel.
Day 04 - Keylong > Kaza (200 kms / 10 -11 hrs)
Countryside life: After breakfast, we set our travel towards Kaza over the Kunzum Pass (4558 m) enroute visiting villages like Losar, Hal and Rangrik. On arrival check in at hotel or guest house. Overnight at Hotel/guest house.
Day 05 - Kaza
Day for monasteries : Kaza is the capital of Spiti. Here you find a lots of sites to explore. Kaza has rich Buddhist cultural effect. Morning visit the Ki monastery, 12 kms from Kaza. This centuries – old gompa is a labyrinth of rooms and corridors – and at one time also acted as a fort. It houses valuable Thangkas and offers a panoramic view of the area. Also visit the small gompa at Kibber, 9 kms further ahead. Kibber at 4205 m altitude has the distinction of being one of the highest permanently inhabited village of the region. There is cooperative society run local market, where you can purchase himachali crafts. Overnight in tents at Kaza.
Day 06 - Kaza > Tabo > Kaza
The Ajanta of the Himalayas : After breakfast leave for an excursion to Tabo visiting Tabo Monastery. Founded in 996 AD by the great teacher Richensang-po, Tabo is known for its awesome murals and stucco images – and is thus called “The Ajanta of the Himalayas”. abo monastery is the largest monastic complex in Spiti embracing in its complex 9 temples, 23 chortens besides chambers for monks and nuns. There are several caves adorned with frescoes and contemporary structures too. In Trans Himalayan Buddhism, Tabo‟s sanctity is next only to Tibet‟s Tholing gompa. Later drive back to Kaza enroute visiting Dhankar Monastery. Overnight at hotel in Kaza.
Day 07 - Kaza > Manali
Contrasting Landscapes : Travel back to Manali. On arrival check in at the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 08 - Manali > Jaipur (Back to Jaipur (825 Kms) 14 hrs Drive
Take rest for 3-4 hrs and start for Jaipur, latest by 8:30 PM. Expected duration of travelling 14 hrs till Jaipur.
